I am cursed with very sensitive skin and get rashes every time I shave, even with a simple blade and “sensitive” shaving cream. I finally decided (after much research and a friends advice) to buy this (rather pricey I thought) Norelco. (Norelco Spectra 8894xl)

The Norelco Spectra 8894XL is Norelco’s top level razor. To be labeled ‘spectra’, Norelco electric shavers must have four key features. The spectra rotary razor must have a personal comfort control setting, enhanced lift and cut technology, washable, and 2-stage cutting system.

The 8894XL razor has 3 heads, each of which can shift when you depress it at any point. The entire system is also able to pivot. For instance, if you put your chin in the center of the razor heads, the entire assembly will pivot inwards to cup your chin. As this happens, the three cutting heads will also cup your chin at whichever angle is necessary.

The personal comfort control setting is located on the right side of the Norelco Spectra 8894xl. It has 9 clicks including S for sensitive, and N for normal. If you rotate the knob, the gears turn a shaft in the center of the razor’s face. On top of the shaft is another shaft attached to a spring, which controls the pressure of each of the 3 rotating cutters.

If you press the top a bit, there will be more resistance to the conforming heads. The best 8894xl razor is angled with 3 ramps. If you turn the shaft, it causes a different part of the ‘ramp’ to contact the top portion, which adjusts the pressure of the spring transmitted to the cutter heads.

The Lift and Cut technology uses copper ‘pre-blade’ that thugs on your whiskers, causing your hair to lift. The spring falls below the cutter and nip your pre-tensioned whisker. 8894XL has a 2-stage cutting action which uses slots to cut long hairs, and holes to shave stubble smooth. Its full-width pop-up trimmer handles do the details of shaving.

It is also washable. You just have to lift its main head and rinse the assembly. Because it is water-proof, you can start shaving. while having your shower. This will save you time.

Its razor blades are excellent, especially for tough spots like the upper lip and neck. They shave closer to the skin. It is also easy to shave, using the spectra. In addition, Norelco Spectra 8894xl comes in limited James Bond edition.

The rechargeable James Bond edition features a sleek design with 3 individually-floating heads that are adjustable to your skin type. Its selector dial adjusts the spring and the pressure of floating heads, which also comes in 9 settings like all its models.

Once fully-recharged, it can give you 100 shaving minutes. Its 2-minute power-charge gives you a 3-minuted shave, while its 6-minute quick charge provides a good single shaving session. The shaver is handy. It fits the hand stylishly and in its travel pouch. Norelco Spectra 8894xl adjusts to international voltage variances.

The polymer LED display of Norelco Spectra 8894xl tells you the remaining minutes of cordless shaving before it requires charging. The LED also warns when you need to clean or replace the heads. It has an audible alarm that sounds, when it requires charging on its storage stand.
